Jamaica Tallawahs on Friday registered a big win over St Lucia Kings in the third league match of the Caribbean Premier League (CPL 2021). Andre Russell wreaked havoc against bowlers and scored the fastest fifty of the tournament history. Jamaica scored a mammoth score of 255 runs for 5 wickets in the allotted 20 overs. In this match, St Lucia won the toss and invited Jamaica to bat first. Andre Russell batted brilliantly in the first innings and did an amazing job of scoring the fastest half-century in CPL history.
Russell completed his half-century against St Lucia in just 14 balls and scored an unbeaten 50. During this, he hit 6 sixes and 4 fours with a strike-rate of 357.14. On the strength of this innings, Russell broke the record of JP Duminy, who had scored 50 runs in the 15 balls. JP did this amazing feat in CPL 2019. Meanwhile, Sohail Tanvir and Kieron Pollard have scored 18-ball fifties in CPL. At the same time, Chadwick Walton scored 47 runs, Kennar Lewis scored 48 runs, Haider Ali 45 runs and Captain Rovman Powell scored 38 runs for Jamaica in this match.
Jamaica set a target of 256 runs to win, but the team was all-out for 135 runs in 17.3 overs and Jamaica got a big victory by 120 runs. For St Lucia, Tim David played the biggest innings of 56 runs in 28 balls with the help of 8 fours and 3 sixes, while Wahab Riaz scored 26 runs in 29 balls. For Jamaica, Dwaine Pretorius took four, Imran Khan took three while Chris Green and Andre Russell took one wicket each.
