The Asia Cup to be held in September this year has been postponed until June 2021 due to the coronavirus epidemic. This was announced at the meeting of the Asian Cricket Council on Thursday. The executive board meeting discussed the effects of the coronavirus and its impact on the Asia Cup seriously. They also discussed other factors such as travel rules, quarantine rules, basic health problems, Physical distance.

Now Sri Lanka will host Asia Cup instead of Pakistan:

The ACC said in its official statement, said that Pakistan was supposed to host the tournament this year, but had swapped hosting rights with Sri Lanka, so now the next Asia Cup to be held in June 2021 will be held in Sri Lanka while the Pakistan Cricket Board will host the tournament in 2022. This means that this tournament held in every two years, will now be played for two consecutive years.

Sourav Ganguly had already announced it:

BCCI President Sourav Ganguly, in a conversation with a YouTube channel on the occasion of his birthday, informed about the cancellation of the Asia Cup on Wednesday, after which the BCCI chief's statement was declared unofficial by the Pakistan Cricket Board this morning. PCB's media director had said that Ganguly's claim had no validity. The final decision on the entire issue can be taken only by the Asian Cricket Council (ACC).

India-Pakistan dispute on Asia Cup hosting:

It is necessary to mention here that the chairman of the Asian Cricket Council is Najmul Hasan of Bangladesh. This is not the first time that India and Pakistan have been face-to-face on Asia Cup. The 15th edition of the tournament was earlier scheduled to be held in Pakistan. But after India's refusal to have it done in Pakistan, there were talks to hold it in UAE. The BCCI had said that if the tournament will be held at a neutral venue, then it has no problem with Pakistan hosting the Asia Cup.
