The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has accepted the resignation of Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Rahul Johri on Thursday. He resigned from the post on 27 December last year. But, the board did not approve it then and extended it till 30 April this year. But on Thursday, his resignation was suddenly approved. It is not yet clear how the board suddenly accepted his resignation. But according to media reports, he is suspected of leaking confidential information to the media.

According to a former BCCI official, 'When it comes to official documents, any responsible person should maintain confidentiality.' If there is no faith, then how will the people sitting on high positions in the board believe in them (Johri).

Johri suspected of leaking email:

The main reasons behind Johari's resignation are emails that were leaked in media. In this, one email is related to Cricket Australia's head Earl Eddings about T20 World Cup, and the other is related to CAG representative Alka Rehani. Johri, who became the first CEO of the board in 2016, resigned from his post after Sourav Ganguly took charge of the board last year. However, he was then asked to hold the post until his contract was over. His term as CEO was until February 2021.

Johri did not have much responsibility:

The responsibility of Johar was greatly reduced after the Ganguly-led committee took charge of the board. Matters related to ICC were also handled by Secretary Jai Shah. In such a situation, he did not want to be on the board.

Johri's tenure in controversies:

Rahul's tenure as BCCI CEO was mired in controversy. He was accused of sexual abuse by a woman a year ago. At that time, 'Me too' campaign was going on all over the world. A committee was formed to investigate the allegations against him. However, the investigative committee gave Johri a clean chit.
