Team India is delivering an impressive performance in the 2023 ODI World Cup, remaining undefeated thus far.

Amidst this success, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has made a startling decision.

BCCI has imposed a two-year ban on a player for submitting birth certificates with different dates on separate occasions.

As a result, this cricketer will be ineligible to participate in any BCCI tournaments for the next two years.

BCCI Imposes 2-Year Ban on This Player

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has banned Jammu and Kashmir cricketer Vanshaj Sharma on allegations of submitting multiple birth certificates.

The Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association (JKCA) released a statement on Saturday, stating that Vanshaj Sharma, a cricketer from Jammu, has been handed a two-year ban by the Board of Control for Cricket in India.

During this period, he will not be able to participate in any BCCI tournaments due to the accusations of submitting birth certificates with different birthdates.

Vanshaj Sharma Out of Major Tournaments for Two Years

The ban on Vanshaj Sharma came into effect on October 27. He will only be eligible to participate in tournaments at any level once the two-year ban period concludes.

During this time, Vanshaj Sharma won't be able to partake in any age group tournaments. This means that after serving the full two-year suspension, he can only compete in senior men's BCCI tournaments.

Age discrepancies in Indian sports have been a significant issue, and several national sports organizations, including the BCCI, have recently taken stringent actions in such cases.
