The South African Foreign Ministry said that the cricketers of Team India are not at risk from the new variant of Corona. We assure them that a safe environment will be created for the entire team. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of South Africa also thanked the BCCI. The ministry said that India A team is playing in South Africa. We are thankful to them for this.
Sports Minister Anurag Thakur had said on getting a new variant of Corona in South Africa, in such a situation every board, be it BCCI or any other, should take permission from the Government of India. The government will take a decision only after receiving an application from the BCCI for India’s tour of South Africa.
Let us tell you that from December 17, Team India is going to play a series against South Africa on its land. The Netherlands men’s cricket team has decided to skip the tour of South Africa midway. The Netherlands took this decision after playing the first ODI at Centurion.
Team India will leave for South Africa on 9 December. The first test match will be played from December 17. The Indian team is going to play 3 Tests, 3 ODIs and 4 T20 matches on this tour.
The series between India and South Africa is going to happen at a time when South Africa is completing 30 years of return to international cricket. South Africa was banned by the ICC in 1970 due to apartheid. When South Africa returned to international cricket in 1991, India became the first country to host it.
The Ministry of External Affairs said about this, ‘The honour of the anniversary will be held on 2 January 2022 in Cape Town. The event will also showcase the strong relationship between South Africa and India’.
