Cricket Legend Heath Streak Passes Away at 49 After Battling Cancer

Cricket Legend Heath Streak Death: Former Zimbabwean cricket captain and iconic all-rounder, Heath Streak, has sadly passed away at the age of 49 on September 03, 2023.

Streak had been battling cancer for an extended period, undergoing treatment in South Africa.

Streak was a prominent figure in international cricket, representing Zimbabwe in 65 Test matches and 189 One-Day Internationals (ODIs).

In Test cricket, he notched up a total of 216 wickets, achieving the remarkable feat of taking four wickets in an innings 16 times and five wickets in an innings on 7 occasions.

His ODI career was equally impressive, amassing 239 wickets with an average of 29.82 in the 50-over format.

Streak's ODI performance included seven instances of taking four wickets in an innings and one occasion where he claimed a five-wicket haul.

He was also a valuable contributor with the bat, scoring 1990 runs in Test matches and 2943 runs in ODIs, including one century and 11 half-centuries in Test cricket, along with 13 half-centuries in ODIs.

Streak was Appointed as the Captain in the Year 2000

In the year 2000, Streak was appointed as the captain of both the Test and ODI teams by the Zimbabwe Cricket Board.

Under his leadership, Zimbabwe won 4 out of 21 Test matches and achieved 6 draws, while in ODIs, the team secured victories in 18 out of 68 matches during his captaincy.

His leadership left an indelible mark on Zimbabwean cricket.
