England's Ben Stokes has announced to take an indefinite break from all forms of cricket to "prioritise his mental well-being". The England team currently has to play in the 5-match Test series against India. In a statement, the ICC said, "The England and Wales Cricket Board can confirm that Ben Stokes will take an indefinite break from all cricket with immediate effect. Stokes has withdrawn from England's Test squad ahead of the Test series against India starting next week to prioritise his mental wellbeing and to rest his left index finger, which has not fully healed since his return to competitive cricket earlier this month."

Meanwhile, Craig Overton has replaced Stokes in the 5-match Test series against India. Stokes, the vice-captain of the team, had also captained the team in the ODI series against Pakistan recently. The champion all-rounder, who played a key role in England's victory in the ODI World Cup, suddenly took an indefinite break from cricket due to mental illness. Respecting the decision of this player, the board allowed him to withdraw from the series against India.
