Ahead of the five-match Test series against England, Team India has suffered a major setback as all-rounder Washington Sundar has been ruled out due to finger injury. First, the team's opener batsman Shubman Gill ruled out of the Test series due to inury, then after that the team's reserve bowler Avesh Khan got a fracture in the thumb and also ruled out of the Test series.
Washington Sundar was part of the County XI team in the first warm-up match. He was included in the County XI squad against the Indian team led by Rohit Sharma. He scored one run in the first innings while batting. This is the second time that Sundar is returning home from the UK without playing any international match. With Washington Sundar being ruled out, Axar Patel could replace him in the team. The absence of three players like this in a row is not a good sign for the Indian team as the team has to play a five-match long Test series, which will start on August 4.
Meanwhile, wicket-keeper batsman Rishabh Pant has joined the bio-bubble of the Indian cricket team after recovering from COVID-19. He has entered the bio-bubble during the practice match being played in Durham.
Pant's inclusion in the team before the Nottingham Test will strengthen the team. He tested positive for COVID-19 a few days ago while on a 20-day break. After this, he was immediately sent to isolation following the coronavirus protocol. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced the return of Rishabh Pant on Twitter. "Hello @RishabhPant17, great to have you back," BCCI wrote on its official Twitter.
