ODI World Cup 2023: Australia has won another World Cup to their name in this edition of the ODI World Cup 2023. This was the sixth trophy for the men in Baggy Green side.
The Aussies have clinched the ODI World Cup titles in 1987, 1996, 2003, 2007, and 2015 and the most recent one came in 2023, which is the most by any team in this world of cricket.
Only 5 bowlers were successful in picking up a five wicket haul in the ODI World Cup 2023 in 47 matches played in this edition of the fifty overs format. Mohammed Shami is the only bowler to get three five wicket hauls in this tournament. The Indian pace bowler had also picked the most wickets for the men in blue side as well. Shami had got 24 wickets to his name from just seven matches played.
In this ODI World Cup 2023, the team of South Africa amassed the highest total in the history of this one day international tournament. The Proteas scored 428 runs in their opening match which they won versus Sri Lanka at Delhi. Quinton de Kock the wicketkeeper batter from the Proteas Nation slammed four centuries which was the most in this edition.
Pakistan too chased down a record score in this edition of the ODI World Cup 2023. The men in green side didn’t bowl that well and they conceded 344 runs against Sri Lanka. However the batsmen of Pakistan stepped up in this game and chased down that score quite well in the end. There were four centurions in this match itself. 2 each players from Pakistan and 2 players each from Sri Lanka got to the three figured mark.
In just 47 games of the ODI World Cup 2023, 40 batsmen have gone past the three figure mark that shows the dominance of the batters over the bowlers in this ODI tournament which is played after every four years. New Zealand was the one who started the procession of scoring centuries in their opening game against England. Two of their batters got to their three figure mark and there was a century scored in the finals of the ODI World Cup 2023 as well. One batter also smashed a double century in this fifty overs ICC mega event.
