ODI Asia Cup 2023: Despite naming the countries which will host the ODI Asia Cup 2023, still, the venues and the fixtures are not been announced.

The Asia Cup in 2023 will be a fifty-overs format affair because of the ICC ODI World Cup in 2023 which will be played in India later this year from October to November.

The ODI Asia Cup 2023 will be played from 31st August 2023 to 17th September 2023. These dates are also confirmed by Star Sports, the number one sports TV channel.

The Asia Cup is now played in the T20I format as well from 2016 and earlier only fifty overs format was in existence. India is the defending champions of the ODI Asia Cup. They won it in 2018.

This time, the tournament will be played in two countries. Pakistan has the official hosting rights of the ODI Asia Cup 2023.

But the BCCI will not allow the Indian Cricket team members to go to that country due to security fears and so, the ACC (Asian Cricket Council) has named the hybrid model to host this year’s event.

Zaka Ashraf Objects the Hybrid Model in ODI Asia Cup 2023

Zaka Ashraf Objects the Hybrid Model in ODI Asia Cup 2023

Zaka Ashraf will soon be the chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and this decision of the hybrid model hasn’t gone his way.

Ashraf has objected to the hybrid model where Pakistan will host only four games in the ODI Asia Cup 2023 as the official hosts of this Asian tournament. Ashraf feels that is an injustice done to Pakistan.

Zaka wants the whole tournament of ODI Asia Cup 2023 should be played in Pakistan and so he does not agree to the hybrid model where Pakistan will host just 4 matches and Sri Lanka will host 13 games of this ACC event.

Ashraf doesn’t have access to the previous decision that the earlier management had taken. But now, he will make sure to do the best for his country.

ACC Responds to the Objection made by Zaka Ashraf

The Asian Cricket Council members have already accepted the decision of hosting the ODI Asia Cup 2023 in the hybrid model and this decision will not be changed.

Zaka Ashraf can say whatever he wants and he is free to do so. The first four matches of this tournament will be played in Pakistan while the other games will move to the island nation Sri Lanka.
