ODI Asia Cup: 3 Non-Indian Players with Highest Individual Score of This Tournament

ODI Asia Cup: The ODI  Asia Cup in 2023 will get underway in Pakistan and Sri Lanka. This will be the 16th edition of the Asia Cup. 

The men in blue side have won the last edition of the Asia Cup in 2018 which was played in the ODI format. That edition was played in the United Arab Emirates.

Rohit Sharma had captained that ODI team and now, Hit Man will be aiming to defend that ODI  Asia Cup title as the skipper of the Indian Cricket Team.

Today we will list out the non-Indian batters who have scored the highest individual score for their teams in the ODI Asia Cup history.

This list has 3 players from different countries and no Indian and Sri Lankan players have been featured. The ODI Asia Cup in 2023 will start from 31st August 2023 to 17th September 2023.

1. Shoaib Malik

Shoaib Malik, former captain of the Pakistani team

The former captain of the Pakistani team is mentioned in this list because Malik scored the highest individual score in this tournament. 

He had achieved this feat against the arch-rivals India at Colombo in the Asia Cup 2014 edition. In the 10th match of the 2014 season, Pakistan got to 300/5 in their fifty overs.

Despite the poor start, Pakistan got that score mainly because of Shoaib Mallik’s 143-run knock. Sachin Tendulkar scored a fighting 78 runs. But India fell 59 runs short of the Pakistani score.

2. Mushfiqur Rahim

The Bangladeshi wicketkeeper batter and former skipper is a legend in his country. Lord Mushi has also the highest individual score in the Asia Cup tournament. 

Rahim achieved this feat against Sri Lanka in Dubai. He scored 144 runs in the edition of the 2018 Asia Cup. In the opening match of the tournament, Rahim scored a vital century and allowed Bangladesh to score 261 runs.

Bangladesh had a poor start to their innings. But Mushfiqur’s knock propelled the Bangla Tigers to win this match by 131 runs.

3. Younis Khan

Pakistan's Younis Khan

The previous highest individual score in the Asia Cup was held by Younis Khan. He had achieved that milestone against Hong Kong in Colombo in the 2004 season.

Younis Khan smashed 144 runs which allowed Pakistan to score a mammoth total of 343/5 in their fifty overs quota.

Khan smashed eight boundaries and three sixes in this innings and the men in green won the match by a whopping margin of 173 runs.
