ODI World Cup: Australia won the ODI World Cup 2023. The Aussies won their sixth ODI World Cup title this year and they defeated the hosts India in the finals.

The men in blue side had a great tournament as they won 11 games on the trot. But in the finals, everything fell apart for Rohit Sharma and his men. That is why they couldn’t clinch their 3rd ODI World Cup trophy.

India was the first host nation who won the ODI World Cup in 2011 and this trend was also carried by Australia in 2015 and England in 2019.

However, Australia won this year’s ODI World Cup 2023, and they also broke this chain. Today we will name the three countries who will be the official hosts of the ODI World Cup four years later and those nations have never won a single ODI World Cup tournament till now.

South Africa, Zimbabwe and Namibia Will Be the Hosts of ODI World Cup in 2027 –

There will be three countries who will jointly host the ODI World Cup four years later. That tournament will be the 14th edition of this one-day international format.

South Africa, Zimbabwe and Namibia will be the three host nations of the ODI World Cup which would be played after four years in 2027.

Zimbabwe and South Africa will be the hosts of ODI World Cup 2027

In 2003 as well, South Africa and Zimbabwe were the co-hosts of this ICC mega event of the fifty-overs format. That time in 2003, Kenya was the host instead of Namibia.

Kenya played well in that tournament and under the coaching stint of Sandeep Patil, that team also reached the semi final stage of that event.

Kenya lost to India in the semis in 2003 ODI World Cup. India reached the finals and that time Dada and his boys lost to the Aussies.

How many teams will play in ODI World Cup 2027?

A total of 14 countries will be participating in the ODI World Cup 2027. From that 3 countries are the hosts. Zimbabwe and South Africa will play in the ODI World Cup as hosts. Only Namibia will play the qualifiers to participate in the ODI World Cup 2027. Eight teams in the ICC ODI rankings are qualified for the ODI World Cup 2027.

The format for the ODI World Cup 2027 will be played same as it was played in the 2003 ODI World Cup. That format of the 2019 and 2023 ODI World Cup will not be applied in the next ICC mega event of the fifty overs format.

Each team will play against each other once in the group stage. The top three sides will play the knockout matches of this ICC mega event of the one day international form of the game.
