On This Day: On this day in 2008, the King of Indian Cricket made his debut at the international level in an ODI game versus Sri Lanka. Virat Kohli didn’t have the greatest of starts to his cricketing career.

But he never gave up and made sure that he would be one of the finest batsmen of the men in the blue side in the years to come.

Kohli has dominated every format of cricket like a boss. He has the second most international hundreds. The King has scored 76 centuries till now and he is behind the God Of Cricket, Sachin Ramesh Tendulkar, who has scored 100 centuries at the International level.

With that, the King has scored 25,582 runs with an astonishing average of 53.63. Kohli can be called the GOAT (Greatest Of All Time) because of his achievements at such a young age.

He has reached this ultimate position because of his sheer hard work, perseverance and dedication.

Before making his international debut, Kohli was the skipper of India’s Under 19 Team and he led that side to World Cup glory.

That win gave him some recognition which helped young Virat to represent the country one fine day.

The King has scored 8,676 runs with an average of 49.29. He has scored 29 centuries and that many half-centuries in this form of the game.

Virat made his debut in the red ball format in 2011 against West Indies and now he is the fifth-highest run scorer of this Test format for his country.

Kohli’s debut in the fifty overs format was against Sri Lanka in 2008 and that also marked his international debut as well. The consistency of The King can be seen in his ODI stats.

Virat is the second-highest run-getter in this format. He has scored 12,898 runs and now in the upcoming matches, Kohli can add more runs to his kitty.

Only Sachin Tendulkar is above Kohli in this regard. VK has scored 46 centuries and 65 fifties in 275 ODIs played so far. His average is 57.32 in this format.

Till now, he has scored 4,008 runs with one century and 37 half-centuries from 115 matches of the T20I format. The King has an average of 52.73 and a strike rate of 137.96.
