Former India captain and National Cricket Academy (NCA) head Rahul Dravid will serve as the head coach of the Indian team for the tour of Sri Lanka, said BCCI president Sourav Ganguly on Tuesday. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has already announced a 20-man squad for the Sri Lanka tour. The captaincy of the team has been handed over to Shikhar Dhawan. Earlier in 2014, Dravid was the batting consultant of the Indian team during the tour of England. He has also been the coach of the India Under-19 and India-A teams.
On the other hand, Paras Mhambrey will travel along with Rahul Dravid on the tour of Sri Lanka. T Dilip has worked with the India A team, while he is the fielding coach of the Hyderabad team. The ODI and T20 teams selected for this tour will be quite different as players such as skipper Virat Kohli and Vice-captain Rohit Sharma will not be part of the tour as they will be engaged in the five-match Test series in England.
Meanwhile, Team India has to play 3-matches ODI series on the Sri Lanka tour on July 13, 16, and 18 respectively. After that, a series of 3 T20 matches will take place on 21, 23 and 25 July. All matches will take place at R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo. At the same time, the ODI and T20 teams selected for this tour will be quite different as players such as skipper Virat Kohli and Vice-captain Rohit Sharma will not be part of the tour as they will be engaged in the five-match Test series in England.
