Rohit Sharma & Mayank Agarwal Set to Open against England, No Replacement for Shubman Gill

Ahead of the crucial test series, team India suffered a major setback as Shubman Gill has been ruled out due to a serious injury. Now, the team management has to look at his alternative. In this series, the biggest question arises now that who will start the innings with Rohit Sharma?

Despite poor performance in the WTC final, Shubman Gill was seen as Rohit Sharma's partner for at least the first two Tests against England. In such a situation, now Mayank Agarwal can be seen again taking the responsibility as an opener. According to the reports, he will be seen opening with Rohit Sharma against England in the first Test match.

Shubman Gill to leave for India:

According to the reports, Indian team opener Shubman will now leave England tour and return to India. Gill has suffered a shin stress fracture, which may take at least two months to recover. Although his injury is serious, but for the time being there will be no need for surgery. If reports are to be believed, he will be in rehab for the time being.

Right-handed batsman Mayank Agarwal's Test record is much better than Shubman Gill, yet he had to sit on the bench as the team management wanted to maintain consistency in the opening. He has scored 1052 runs in 23 innings of 14 Test matches played so far, in which his highest score is 243 runs. He is scoring runs at an average of around 46. Mayank Agarwal has scored 3 centuries and 4 half-centuries along with two double centuries.
