Yesterday’s match played between Rajasthan Royals and Chennai Super Kings at Brabourne Stadium, Mumbai took dramatic turns. Earlier, Moeen Ali gave a power boost to the team along with his majestic knock, however, the team failed to collaborate well with the English batsmen and thus managed to score just 150, despite a fine start.
Moeen Ali’s ‘Powerplay’
CSK upon winning the toss opted to bat, however, lost its first wicket in the very first over of the match. Ruturaj Gaikwad got failed to cop up with the delivery bowled by Trent Boult and thus Edged and Gone.
Moeen Ali, however, took the guard cautiously and destroyed the Royal Bowling Attack. It took just 19 balls for Moeen to score his 5th IPL fifty. By the end of Powerplay CSK was now standing with a total of 75 runs and was thus marching towards a total of 200.
Royal Comeback
Royals upon getting badly beaten by Moeen made a spectacular comeback in the game and stalled the stepping feet of the team marching towards a big scorecard. Ashwin Chahal duo put a break over the team while McCoy too prevented CSK batsmen from making big deals.
Mahi- way
Moeen smashed the ‘Royal’ attack on one hand while the non-striker end remained empty. No batsmen dared to stay long on the crease. Expectations however were still on the seventh sky as the skipper was still there to hit the grounds. Mahi, undoubtedly the best finisher, scored just 28 runs facing 26 deliveries, thus adding more pressure to Moeen who’d been dealing with bowlers single-handed so far, and thus, the team managed to add just 150 runs to the scorecard.
Ash-Win
Ravichandran Ashwin remained the talk of the town for the whole match. First, the magic spinner made an impressive comeback and spent just 12 runs in his last three overs. The spinner then also played a match-winning knock, smashing 40 runs in just 23 balls. Ashwin's performance in IPL would have surely hinted BCCI to keep his name in mind while finalizing the list for the T-20 world cup.
