South Africa beat Ireland by 33 runs in the first T20 on Monday on the back of Tabraiz Shamsi's brilliant bowling performance. He took four wickets for 27 runs. With this win, the visiting team has now took 1-0 lead in the three-match series.
On the other hand, Lungi Ngidi made a comeback after taking rest from the last two ODIs and took 2 wickets for 18 runs, while Kagiso Rabada took 1 wicket for 28. For Ireland, Harry Tector scored 36 runs, Barry McCarthy scored 30 not out, captain Andrew Balbirnie scored 22 and Josh Little scored 15 not out.
After losing the toss, batting first South Africa scored 165/7 in 20 overs. Quinton de Kock and Temba Bavuma gave the team a quick start. De Kock scored 20 runs in just nine balls before being dismissed by Mark Adair in the third over. Aiden Markram scored 39 runs in 30 balls. David Miller scored 28 and Rassie van der Dussen scored 25 runs. In the end, Kagiso Rabada scored an unbeaten 19 off just nine balls, hitting four consecutive fours. For Ireland, Adair took 3 for 39, while Simi Singh took two wickets each. The second match will be played on Thursday 22 July in Belfast.
