Micro-blogging and social networking site Twitter has restored the blue tick on former Indian cricket team captain MS Dhoni account after briefly removing it earlier. Meanwhile, Twitter had not revealed the reasons behind this decision. However, it could be because the Indian cricketer has not been active on the platform. He shared his last post on Twitter in January. Since then nothing has been shared from his Twitter handle.
On Friday, the blue tick was seen missing from his Twitter handle. There are about 8.2 million users who follow Dhoni on Twitter. Dhoni's fans started slamming Twitter for removing blue tick from his official account. Seeing the growing outrage, Twitter restored blue tick on his account.
The blue tick on a Twitter handle, like other social media handles shows that the account is verified and authentic. Apart from being active on the platform, users need to verify their identity, be part of a prominent organisation or brand, have a follower count in the top 0.5 per cent of active accounts in their geographical location, among other things.
MS Dhoni will be seen in action as the T20 tournament resumes in September in UAE. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced the schedule for the remainder of IPL. A total of 31 matches will be played in the duration of 27 days. In the first match-up of this leg, Mumbai Indians will take on Chennai Super Kings on September 19. The final match of the league stage will take place between Royal Challengers Bangalore go up against Delhi Capitals on October 8.
