WI Vs IND: India’s preparation for next year’s World Cup in the shortest format faces a massive roadblock. The 2024 T20 World Cup will be played in the West Indies and the United States of America.

The team under Hardik Pandya lost the series of the five-match T20 International matches by a margin of 3-2.

Hardik and his young men could win just one match in West Indies and one game in Florida. Suryakumar Yadav was the only one who batted reasonably well in this series after his failure in the fifty-over format series which India won by a margin of 2-1.

Even in the last game of this series, SKY scored a vital half-century and that helped India to post a modest total of 165 runs. Yadav was the highest scorer in the series-deciding match.

But Romario Shepherd’s four-wicket haul allowed West Indies to dominate. Later the batters also went along with the run chase nicely and registered a famous win.

Windies End India’s Winning Streak in the Shortest Format

While chasing a score of just 166 runs, the home side batters, West Indies lost just 2 wickets. Brandon King was the top scorer of the final match with 85 not out runs and Shai Hope was also unbeaten on 22 runs as these two batters guided their team to a famous win in the final T20I match by eight wickets.

By winning the last match and the series, West Indies has also broken the winning streak of the men in blue side.

In the last 12 series of the T20I format, the two-time champion side, West Indies was on the losing side. Their last T20I series win against India was in 2017.

The series-winning skipper of the West Indies team, Rovman Powell said that beating a strong team like India on their home soil was a significant achievement for them.

This series win will be like a confidence booster for them before the T20 World Cup 2024 starts in the Caribbean and USA.
