The prohibition of liquor in Bihar has repeatedly been in question. In this case, the chain of deaths caused by tainted liquor is not coming to an end. Today, reports surfaced of the deaths of five people in Dumraon, Buxar district, allegedly as a result of drinking bogus liquor. The incident occurred in Ansari village, which is under the jurisdiction of Buxar's Murar police station.
According to reports, 5 people died late at night as a result of drinking poisonous liquor. Aside from that, four people are in critical condition and are being treated in a hospital. Buxar SP Neeraj Kumar Singh stated that the administration was made aware of the deaths of five people and that an investigation is underway.
Poisonous Liquor
It is worth noting that 11 people died recently in Sohsarai, Nalanda district, as a result of drinking tainted liquor. The deaths were confirmed by the Nalanda district SP. Following the investigation, the SHO of the Sohsarai police station was suspended. At the same time, 40 people died in the Gopalganj district two months ago as a result of drinking tainted liquor. Following the liquor incident two months ago, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar issued strict instructions that the police station in the area where liquor was discovered be immediately suspended. He has also stated that he will not allow alcohol to be brought in or allow anyone to drink.
Poisonous Liquor
Let us remind you that on January 4, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar stated that 13,013 cases were registered in Bihar between November 26 and January 2. 2.31 lakh liters of domestic liquor and 3.55 lakh liters of foreign liquor have been seized. These figures show that liquor, which has been banned in Bihar, is still widely available.
Nitish Kumar, the state's Chief Minister, promised to ban liquor in the 2015 assembly elections. As a result of his promise, the voting percentage of women had risen to nearly 60%. More than 70% of women had voted in many areas.
