As part of the 'One India-One Ticket' initiative, a collaboration between IRCTC (Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation) and DMRC (Delhi Metro Rail Corporation) is allowing passengers to pre-book Delhi Metro tickets via the IRCTC app for their upcoming journeys.

According to officials, commuters going by train or plane would soon be able to "reserve tickets" in advance for their subsequent Delhi Metro trip. 

While the exact timing for implementing this initiative is unknown, a senior DMRC official stressed that the goal is to provide customers with a seamless and convenient travel experience across many modes of transportation.

Integrated QR Ticketing for Seamless Travel

A strategic Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between IRCTC and DMRC facilitates the combined effort, which represents a substantial increase in travel convenience.

The major goal is to provide QR code-based ticketing for DMRC services via IRCTC platform as part of the revolutionary 'One India-One Ticket Initiative'.

Passengers who already utilize the IRCTC platform to reserve online tickets for trains, airlines, or buses will now be able to quickly reserve DMRC QR code-based tickets as a result of this collaboration. 

This connection would allow tourists to schedule their entire route within the Indian Railways' Advance Reservation Period, expediting their travel preparations.

The DMRC QR code-generated tickets would be effortlessly integrated into the IRCTC's Electronic Reservation Slip (ERS), with a platform fee of only Rs 5. The alliance intends to simplify the travel experience by reducing the need for long lines and saving crucial time by combining these services.

Seema Kumar, IRCTC's Chairperson and Managing Director, stated that the 'One India-One Ticket Initiative' is a real indication of their dedication to streamlining ticketing procedures and improving travel experiences for passengers in the Delhi region. 

She stated that with this collaboration, diverse means of transportation are seamlessly interconnected to deliver exceptional benefits.

DMRC Managing Director Vikas Kumar expressed his excitement about the relationship, adding that it perfectly aligned with their aim of providing integrated and seamless transportation solutions to DMRC commuters. 

He underlined that this move will not only make travel more convenient for customers, but will also reduce congestion at DMRC stations by eliminating reliance on physical tickets.
