Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal has requested a meeting with Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena. Kejriwal is set to resign from the Chief Minister's post tomorrow.
He had already announced his resignation earlier. The name of the new CM might also be announced tomorrow. CM Kejriwal has been given a meeting time of 4:30 PM on Tuesday (September 17) at the Lieutenant Governor's office.
There are various speculations about who will become the next Chief Minister of Delhi. Names like Atishi, Saurabh Bharadwaj, and Raghav Chadha are being considered as frontrunners, although no final decision has been made yet.
On Sunday (September 15), Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal announced his resignation. He stated that he would step down from his position in two days. During his address at the AAP office on Sunday (September 15), he mentioned that he would now seek the people's verdict.
On Sunday, CM Arvind Kejriwal said, "I will resign in two days and ask the people if they believe I am honest. I appeal to the public—if you think Kejriwal is honest, then vote for me. If you believe Kejriwal is guilty, don't vote for me. Every vote you cast will be a certificate of my honesty."
Kejriwal further stated, "I will only sit in the Chief Minister's chair in Delhi if the people give me a certificate of honesty. After getting out of jail, I want to face an 'agnipariksha' (trial by fire)."
The Delhi Assembly elections are scheduled for February next year. The term of the Delhi Assembly will end on February 23 next year, and the elections are expected to take place in early February.
However, Arvind Kejriwal, Atishi, and several other leaders of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) are pushing for the assembly elections to be held earlier than scheduled.
