Punjab Man Arrested By Delhi Police For Involvement In Pro-Khalistan Graffiti On Metro Station Walls

Officials announced on Thursday, August 31, that the Delhi Police Special Cell has brought a man from Punjab into custody in connection with the damage of walls at more than five metro stations in the capital city. 

The arrested guy was named as Preetpal, and the occurrences entailed the painting of pro-Khalistan slogans

The seized person is now being interrogated. The graffiti on the walls included messages such as "Delhi banega Khalistan" and "Khalistan Referendum Zindabad." 

Pro-Khalistan Sentiments Spread at Metro

The Delhi Police had previously stated that activists affiliated with Sikhs For Justice (SFJ), a terrorist organization outlawed in India since 2019, were present at numerous metro stations in Delhi, spreading pro-Khalistan sentiments. 

In response to the event, the police swiftly removed the slogans from the walls and launched legal proceedings.

"In more than 5 metro stations, somebody has written 'Delhi Banega Khalistan and Khalistan Zindabad,'" Delhi Police said, adding, "Ahead of the G20 Summit, Sikhs For Justice (SFJ) released raw footage of Delhi metro stations where Khalistan pro slogans are written." 

With pro-Khalistan slogans, SFJ militants were present in numerous metro stations in Delhi, from Shivaji Park to Punjabi Bagh."

G20 Summit Preparations and International Attendance

Ram Gopal Naik, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Metro, revealed that a case has been filed under sections 153 A, 505, and the Defacement Act. 

The impending G20 Summit, which will take place on September 9 and 10 at Bharat Mandapam within the ITPO Convention Centre in Pragati Maidan, has triggered numerous preparations in the city. 

Over 30 heads of state, significant government officials from the European Union and invited guest nations, as well as 14 heads of international organizations, will attend the summit.
