FIR on Sandeep Singh: An FIR has been registered against Haryana Sports Minister Sandeep Singh after he was accused of sexual harassment. This FIR has been registered under IPC sections 354, 354A, 354B, 342 and 506 in Chandigarh on the complaint of a junior woman coach on Sports Minister Sandeep Singh.
However, Haryana Sports Minister Sandeep Singh has resigned from the post after allegations of molestation surfaced.
He said "I hope there will be a thorough investigation of the false allegations levelled against me. I hand over the responsibility of sports department to the CM till the investigation report comes."
A junior athletics coach from the state had accused the minister on Thursday i.e. Dec 29 and a day later she approached the police with a complaint.
However, the minister dismissed the allegation as baseless and demanded an independent probe. Director General of Police PK Agarwal has constituted a committee headed by Additional Director General of Police, Rohtak Range, Mamta Singh, with Deputy Commissioner of Police, Panchkula, Sumer Pratap Singh and Assistant Commissioner of Police, Panchkula, Raj Kumar Kaushik as members, to investigate the matter.
The women's coach has alleged that Sandeep Singh sent her messages on Instagram and Snapchat after the 2016 Rio Olympics. Some time ago Sandeep Singh called her into the office and said you keep me happy, I will keep you happy.
According to the woman, Sandeep Singh molested her and she somehow managed to escape from his clutches. On the other hand, Sandeep Singh said that he is being forcibly implicated and has demanded an inquiry into the matter.
