Nuh Violence: The district administration of Nuh in Haryana was dealt a blow on Monday (August 07) when the demolition operation was halted due to a stay order obtained by the Punjab and Haryana High Court.

The four-day demolition campaign aims to combat unauthorised structures in the violence-plagued neighbourhood.

One significant structure demolished was a restaurant-turned-hotel used by hooligans during the recent riots.

A police squad was stationed in the neighbourhood to maintain security during the demolition.

On July 31, two factions clashed in Nuh, resulting in the terrible loss of six lives, including two Home Guards.

Following the uproar, the district authorities acted quickly, razing over 45 illegal establishments along Nalhar Road. However, the situation remained tight, prompting the installation of a curfew in Nuh to maintain order and limit public mobility.

The curfew was relaxed for a four-hour period on August 6, giving the public limited movement from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Despite this easing, Haryana police maintained their monitoring and increased barricading and checking in the district to safeguard the safety of inhabitants and prevent any potential flare-ups.

To handle the problem and hold those involved accountable, the police took action, filing 55 First Information Reports (FIRs) and arresting 141 people associated with the Nuh rioting and violence.

In addition, 88 persons were reported hurt as a result of the skirmishes. Gurugram Police also took action to calm the agitation in neighbouring areas, filing 27 FIRs and apprehending 38 suspects.

The district administration and police are working together to restore calm and normalcy in Nuh and the neighbouring areas while the situation is continuously watched.
