MP: Private School in Damoh District Accused of Forcing Hindu Girl Students to Wear Hijab! CM Orders Probe

Since Independence

A private school in the Damoh district of Madhya Pradesh recently faced controversy due to its uniform policy.

The controversy stemmed from a poster displayed by the school, showing schoolgirls wearing hijabs, regardless of their religious affiliation.

Hindu organizations have raised concerns, alleging that Hindu girl students were being compelled to wear hijabs against their wishes.

In response to Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan's firm stance on the matter, the Damoh Collector has taken action against the school.

The Damoh Collector has stated that, following the Chief Minister's strict instructions, a committee has been formed to investigate the circumstances surrounding this incident at the school.

Hindu organizations staged protests at Damoh District Magistrate's office

State Home Minister Narottam Mishra addressed the controversy surrounding Ganga Jamuna School in Damoh during a press conference in Bhopal on Wednesday i.e. May 31.

He informed reporters that the district education officer had already conducted an inquiry into the incident involving Hindu girls being shown wearing hijab at the school.

Considering the gravity of the situation, the Superintendent of Police has been directed to conduct a thorough investigation into the entire matter.

Meanwhile, Hindu organizations staged protests at the Damoh District Magistrate's office and presented a memorandum requesting the cancellation of the school's registration.

They alleged that the school was compelling Hindu girl students to wear hijab.

An inquiry committee has been constituted under the chairmanship of Tehsildar Damoh

In contrast, District Magistrate Mayank Agarwal of Damoh stated on Tuesday that after an investigation conducted by the police station in charge of Kotwali and the district education officer, it was found that the information being circulated by certain individuals regarding a poster of Ganga Jamuna School was incorrect.

The inquiry committee has already submitted its report, validating this conclusion.

However, a day later on Wednesday, he said that following the instructions of the Home Minister, an inquiry committee has been constituted under the chairmanship of Tehsildar Damoh in the case of Ganga Jamuna School.

At the same time, the director of the school, Mustaq Khan said that the uniform in the school includes a scarf, but no one is forced to wear it.
