Former Maharashtra CM and Senior Congress Leader Sushilkumar Shinde Quits Politics

Former Chief Minister of Maharashtra and veteran Congress leader Sushilkumar Shinde has announced his retirement from active politics.

During an event on Tuesday, he declared his political retirement and stated that his daughter, Praniti Shinde, will contest the 2024 elections. He mentioned that he will continue to be present wherever his support is needed.

It is noteworthy that Praniti Shinde has served as a Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) from Solapur three times and aspires to contest the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.

Sushilkumar Shinde, a former Chief Minister of Maharashtra, has also been a Member of Parliament (MP) from the Solapur constituency three times.

Shinde has been the Governor of Andhra Pradesh

Sushilkumar Shinde, who has previously served as the Governor of Andhra Pradesh, three-time Member of Parliament from Solapur, and briefly as the Chief Minister of Maharashtra in 2003 and 2004, has announced his retirement from active politics.

After relinquishing the position of Chief Minister, he was appointed as the Governor of Andhra Pradesh and held the role until 2006. Subsequently, he was inducted into the Central Cabinet.

Shinde was Made Home Minister in 2012

In 2012, Shinde was appointed as the Union Minister for Home Affairs in the government led by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh. He took over the ministry from P. Chidambaram, who had temporarily moved to the Ministry of Finance following the 26/11 Mumbai attacks.
