Maharashtra Assembly Elections Heating Up, Date Announcement Expected Tomorrow

Maharashtra Assembly Elections: The activity surrounding the Maharashtra Assembly elections has intensified. The Election Commission is expected to announce the election dates on Tuesday, October 15.

In the 2019 Assembly elections, voting was conducted in a single phase for all seats.

The likelihood of the announcement gained momentum after a meeting of the Eknath Shinde cabinet on today, October 14. It is believed to be the last cabinet meeting of the current Shinde government.

Maharashtra has a total of 288 Assembly seats, and the term of the Maharashtra Assembly ends on November 26.

CEC Rajeev Kumar Visited Maharashtra Last Month

Last month, Chief Election Commissioner Rajeev Kumar visited Maharashtra along with Election Commissioners Gyanesh Kumar and S.S. Sandhu to review the election preparations.

During this visit, they met with district election officers, police superintendents, municipal commissioners, divisional commissioners, and other senior state government officials.

During this time, the Chief Election Commissioner clearly stated that the spread of fake news on social media would not be tolerated. He instructed district election officers to ensure proper management of voter queues on election day in the state.

When were the Last Maharashtra Assembly Elections Held?

The last Maharashtra Assembly elections took place on October 21, 2019, when voting was conducted in a single phase across all 288 seats.

Approximately 61.4% of voters cast their ballots in this election. The results were announced on October 24. At that time, the total number of eligible voters was over 89.5 million, and this figure has since increased.
