Maharashtra: Pune College Teacher Arrested for Alleged Comments on Hindu Deities

In Pune, a college teacher named Ashok Dhole was arrested on Thursday (August 03) for making derogatory remarks about Hindu deities.

The arrest came after a video, purportedly showing the teacher making certain remarks in the classroom, emerged and sparked outrage.

Members of the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP), a student organization affiliated with the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), staged a protest outside the college demanding action against the teacher.

Process of initiating an inquiry has commenced

The Symbiosis College of Arts and Commerce, where Dhole taught, responded to the incident by suspending him. Dr. Hrishikesh Soman, the college principal, stated that the video was shot by a student during a class.

He also mentioned that the process of initiating an inquiry has commenced, as the college is government-aided.
