Today (August 11), the Supreme Court granted bail to NCP leader Nawab Malik in a case related to money laundering. The court approved bail for Nawab Malik for a period of two months.

It's reported that the Supreme Court granted him bail on medical grounds in the money laundering case.

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) did not raise any objections to the grant of bail based on medical reasons.

Nawab Malik, a prominent NCP leader, has been in jail since February of last year.

Notably, former Maharashtra minister and NCP leader Nawab Malik was arrested by the ED in February 2022 in connection with cases linked to fugitive gangster Dawood Ibrahim and his associates.

It's worth mentioning that the Mumbai High Court had denied him bail on July 13, 2023. Malik had appealed to the high court, claiming that he was suffering from serious kidney issues in addition to several other ailments.

NCP leader Nawab Malik had also garnered significant attention due to his allegations against former zonal director of the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB), Sameer Wankhede.

He accused Wankhede of wrongdoing, leading to controversy. Malik had alleged that after the raid on a cruise ship off the Mumbai coast in October 2021, where anti-drug officials were involved, Wankhede was responsible for misconduct.

During that incident, Nawab Malik's son-in-law, Sameer Khan, was arrested by the Mumbai unit of the NCB under Wankhede's leadership in a drug-related case.
