Another Rail Accident Strikes in Odisha: Merely three days following the devastating triple train collision in Odisha that tragically took the lives of at least 275 individuals, another unfortunate incident unfolded on Monday i.e. May 05.

A freight train, travelling from Dunguri to Bargarh, derailed near Mendhapali in Bargarh district.

Specifically, several wagons of the limestone-laden goods train veered off-track near Sambardhara.

Authorities, including the police, swiftly arrived at the scene to commence an investigation. As of now, no casualties have been reported.

Between the Dungri limestone mines and the cement plant in Bargarh, there exists a narrow gauge rail line under private ownership.

The rail infrastructure, wagons, and locomotives employed on this line are privately owned and are not connected to the Indian Railway system.

Odisha Train Tragedy

At approximately 7 pm on Friday, a devastating train collision occurred involving three trains: the Shalimar-Chennai Coromandel Express, Bengaluru-Howrah superfast train, and a goods train.

Tragically, this incident resulted in the loss of 275 lives, with over 1000 individuals sustaining injuries, according to a report published by the news agency ANI.

Regrettably, this incident is being recognized as one of India's most devastating train accidents.
