In a money laundering case, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) detained Bhupinder Singh, the nephew of Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi, on Thursday night. The ED raided the home of Channi's sister-in-son law's Bhupinder Singh alias Honey and others on January 18. In Chandigarh, Ludhiana, Mohali, and Fatehgarh, eleven distinct locations were raided for Honey.

Investigating agency discovered Rs. 10.7 crore in cash

Money laundering case

Six contractors are being investigated by the ED in connection with an illegal sand mining gang and money laundering investigation. During this time, the investigating agency seized six crore rupees in cash and property papers from Honey's and his associate's home. During this time, the investigating agency discovered Rs. 10.7 crore in cash on Honey's and his colleagues' properties.

CM Channi has been a target of the opposition since then. The Aam Aadmi Party has even asked the Governor to take action against the Chief Minister. Following this, Punjab Governor Banwari Lal Purohit asked the state DGP to submit the allegations against Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi in the illegal sand mining case, based on a complaint by Raghav Chadha, co-in-charge of the Aam Aadmi Party's (AAP) Punjab affairs. An order for an investigation has been issued.

An attempt to create pressure

CM Channi

CM Channi, on the other hand, claimed it was an attempt to create pressure and that, because the election is approaching, efforts are being made to put pressure on him and his ministers. During the West Bengal elections, Mamata Banerjee's relatives were subjected to similar violence. Every Congress worker, not just ministers and the chief minister, is under duress. This type of atmosphere is not conducive to democracy. Prepared to deal with a variety of stresses and challenges. We shall continue our election campaign not withstanding their failure.
