Rajasthan: Bihar Student Takes His Own Life in Kota Following Disappointing NEET Result

Deepak Sharma

A 21-year-old aspirant from Bihar allegedly took his own life after failing to achieve the desired marks in the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET) in two consecutive attempts.

Officials reported that Roshan, a 21-year-old individual from the Samastipur district, was discovered dead on Thursday evening by his brother Suman, who also resides in Kota for competitive exams preparations.

The authorities stated that no suicide note was found in Roshan's room located in the Mahaveer Nagar Police station area.

However, they believe that Roshan took his own life by hanging himself from the ceiling fan, likely due to his perceived failure in qualifying NEET-UG with satisfactory marks, even in his second attempt.

NEET Result Brings Tragic End for Roshan in Kota

Roshan and his brother Suman were residing in separate locations within the Mahaveer Nagar area. As per police officials, Roshan had recently visited his uncles' place in Delhi and returned to Kota on Thursday morning. He had a conversation with his mother upon his return.

Later in the day, when Roshan's parents attempted to reach out to him, there was no response. Concerned about his well-being, they asked Suman to visit Roshan's paying guest accommodation and check on him.

Upon Suman's arrival, he tragically discovered his brother's lifeless body hanging from the ceiling fan in his room on the building's third floor.

Investigation Launched

Despite being rushed to the hospital, Roshan was pronounced dead upon arrival, stated the officer. Roshan had dedicated two years to preparing for the NEET–UG examination in Kota.

The police have registered a case under section 174 of the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC) to investigate the incident of Roshan's suicide.

They mentioned that his family arrived in Kota on Friday afternoon, and after the completion of the postmortem examination, the body was handed over to them.
