In a tragic incident that unfolded in Rajasthan's Bikaner, a Dalit woman was allegedly gang-raped and murdered, leading to the suspension of two police personnel suspected to be involved.

According to the authorities, a tragic incident unfolded in the Khajuwala area of Rajasthan's Bikaner district when the lifeless body of a 20-year-old woman was discovered on Tuesday (June 21).

Two Police Constables Suspended

The family of the victim has accused three individuals, including two police constables, of perpetrating the rape, stated Inspector General of Police (IG) Om Prakash.

In light of these disturbing allegations, both police constables have been immediately suspended, and an extensive investigation is currently underway, as stated by IG Om Prakash.

The police have registered a case, incorporating multiple sections of the law, including those specifically addressing gang rape.

Based on call records, the police have stated that the victim and the primary accused were acquainted with each other. Simultaneously, the involvement of the two constables is currently under investigation.

Opposition Criticizes Congress-led Rajasthan Government

The opposition Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Rajasthan has criticized the Congress-led government under Chief Minister Gehlot over the incident, asserting that the involvement of police personnel stains the government's reputation.

In a tweet, Leader of the Opposition (LoP) Rajendra Rathore stated, "The incident of rape and murder in Bikaner's Khajuwala is very unfortunate and the involvement of policemen in this shameful incident is a blot on the face of the government. The police administration cannot escape from its responsibility by merely suspending the guilty Constable Bhagirath and Constable Manoj Kumar."

Rathore further emphasized that the suspension of the constables should not be seen as a mere formality. The family members of the victim are disappointed with the police administration, and he demanded the state government to take strict action against the guilty policemen involved.
