A horrific video of a guy urinating on the ear of a Dalit man in Uttar Pradesh's Sonbhadra district has gone viral on social media. Following the widespread distribution of the video, authorities detained two people engaged in the incident.

The incident occurred on July 11 in the district's Jugail region. Authorities said the two males, who were known to have a friendly connection, got into an argument after drinking alcohol.

According to a senior police source, Jawahar Patel then physically assaulted Gulab Kol and proceeded to urinate on his ears.

A disturbing video of a man urinating on a Dalit man's ear in Uttar Pradesh's Sonbhadra district has gone popular on social media.

Police Response and Victim's Complaint

When the incident was reported, a large number of police and administrative authorities rushed to the scene. Because of his drunken state, the victim initially failed to recognise the gravity of the situation.

Someone did, however, record a video of the incident, which was extensively circulated on social media. According to Singh, the police officer, Gulab Kol has made a complaint and a First Information Report (FIR) has been filed regarding the event.

The perpetrators of the heinous crime, Patel and his accomplice, have been captured by police.

This incident comes on the heels of another in Madhya Pradesh, where Pravesh Shukla was detained for reportedly urinating on Dashmat Rawat, a tribal community member.

Outrage and Calls for Justice

After the video went viral, the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) faced widespread condemnation. In reaction, Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan bathed Rawat's feet in an attempt to seek forgiveness and ease tensions.

Such dehumanising behaviours underscore the deep-seated societal ills and caste-based discrimination that remain in some parts of India. These instances stir indignation and raise worries about marginalised communities' safety and dignity.

Law enforcement must conduct a comprehensive investigation into these instances to ensure that those responsible receive proper legal consequences.

Furthermore, efforts should be increased to promote social peace, educate the public about equality, and combat caste-based prejudice in order to establish a more inclusive and just society.
