UP: Fire Breaks Out in Coaches of Patalkot Express Near Agra Station

Indian Railways is currently facing a series of unfortunate incidents, with news of accidents involving trains making headlines regularly.

The latest incident has occurred near Agra Station, involving the Patalkot Express (Train 14624).

The train's coaches caught fire near the Bhandai Railway Station, which is under the Malpura police jurisdiction in Agra.

The incident came to light when a plume of smoke was seen coming from a compartment of Patalkot Express, travelling between Firozpur Cantt in Punjab and Sivani in Madhya Pradesh.

Passengers on board quickly raised the alarm, prompting authorities to respond promptly. Indian Railways reported that smoke was detected in the fourth coach from the engine, known as the General Seating (GS) coach. As of now, the cause of the fire is yet to be determined.

No Reports of Casualties

There have been no reports of casualties resulting from the fire in the Patalkot Express near Agra Station.

Prashasti Srivastava, the Public Relations Officer (PRO) of Agra Railway Division, confirmed that no injuries or fatalities have been reported so far.

However, two passengers have sustained injuries and have been sent for medical treatment.

This incident comes in the wake of a recent train accident in Bihar's Buxar district. A Delhi-bound train, train number 12506, going to Kamakhya derailed near the Raghunathpur Station in Buxar.

The derailment led to the tragic deaths of four individuals, and over 100 passengers were injured due to coaches running off the tracks.

Following this incident, the railways made changes to the routes of several trains as a precautionary measure.
