Deoria Crime: The dispute traces its origins to the time when Ramashish Yadav and Shashibhushan Chauhan got into a quarrel when the former made boundaries around his land, which according to Chauhan was an encroachment of his land. Chauhan, a retired BSF officer, expressed his dissent to the encroachment and both families have been involved in the land dispute for a long time.

The longstanding dispute took a tragic turn on Monday when both families got into a direct confrontation involving the use of arms and ammunition, where both groups opened fire at each other, claiming several lives, and over half a dozen people got injured.

Among the people who lost their lives is a former district Panchayat member. The injured are currently being treated at the Devraha Medical College. The clash got out of control when some mischiefs lit some vehicles and the altercation turned into a much more intense clash. Police forces swiftly arrived at the scene and paramilitary forces were also deployed to bring the situation under control.

An investigation was conducted at the spot and both the groups suffered injuries. Some of the individuals were also detained and are being questioned, mentioned SP Deoria. He also mentioned that the situation was now under control and further investigation was taking place.
