Google Maps Error Leads Car into River, 4 Narrowly Escape

Since Independence

In the era of modern technology, we set out for destinations whether we know the way or not. We completely trust Google Maps to guide us correctly, allowing us to reach our destination without asking strangers for directions.

However, relying too much on technology can sometimes be risky. Something similar happened to a group of tourists from Hyderabad in Kerala. Following the route suggested by Google Maps, their car ended up in a river.

Trusting Google Maps Led Tourists Into Trouble

Google Maps is a popular and trusted map service used worldwide by many people to navigate unfamiliar routes and places. However, Google Maps can sometimes lead users astray, and such an incident has recently emerged from TKerala.

A group of people from Hyderabad was in Kuruppanthara, South Kerala, following the route Google Maps suggested. This reliance on Google Maps led them into trouble.

This incident occurred late on Friday night. Four people were driving towards Alappuzha, navigating flooded roads due to heavy rain. Additionally, they were not familiar with the area.

Tourists Rescued by Police and Locals

While following the route suggested by Google Maps, their car plunged into a river. All four passengers were rescued by the police with the help of local residents.

Although their car sank in the river, efforts are being made to retrieve it. This kind of incident has happened before; last October, two doctors following a Google Maps route drove their car into a river, resulting in their deaths.

In light of such incidents, Kerala Police has issued a warning, advising people to be cautious when using technology during the monsoon season.

They emphasized the need for extra caution and awareness when relying on Google Maps for navigating unfamiliar routes.
