Decision on Police Commissioner System Soon

In the matter of law and order, a final decision will be taken soon at the government level regarding the major initiative to implement police commissioner system in Uttar Pradesh. Earlier, brainstorming is going on. The transfer list of 14 IPS was released on Thursday. SSP Lucknow Kalanidhi has been made SSP Ghaziabad. While Vaibhav Krishna, the SSP of Gautam Buddha Nagar was suspended by the regime. The command of both the districts has not been handed over to anyone yet. After the formation of the BJP government in the state, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath gave strict instructions especially about law and order. His direct message was strong action against criminals.

There are no converstaion of getting a green signal from the cabinet on Tuesday to implement the commissioner system in Lucknow and Gautam Buddha Nagar. Sources say that on Friday, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath held a meeting with senior officials and brainstormed various aspects of the police commissioner system. It also discussed the Gurgaon and Mumbai models in particular.

It was told that the police also has the right to issue arms and excise licenses in Mumbai, whereas in Gurgaon the police do not have this right. Along with the posting of ADG and IG level officers, their possible names were also discussed. As the posts of SSP of Lucknow and Gautam Budh Nagar are vacant and the cabinet meeting is to be held on Tuesday, there is also a possibility that the government may implement this decision by bicirculation as well.

During the press conference on Friday, DGP OP Singh admitted that there is a churn in the government to implement the police commissioner system. He says that the final decision has to be taken by the government. Discussions started on the proposal to implement the pilot project as a police commissioner system in Lucknow, Kanpur Nagar, Varanasi, Gautam Budh Nagar and Ghaziabad in the state. Regarding this, new SSP has not been deployed in Lucknow and Gautam Buddha Nagar so far. This has further intensified the discussion of implementing the commissioner system here.
