Mazari belonged to the Hazara community and was a leader of the Hizb-e-Wahdat party. He was assassinated by the Taliban in 1995. The Taliban have been targeting the Hazara community for many years. The Hazara community accounts for about 9% of the total 36 million population of Afghanistan, but instead of providing protection to these minorities, the people of this community remain the target of terrorists there. Most of the Hazaras in Bamiyan are Shia Muslims. That's why they remain the target of Muslim fundamentalists.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi took a meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS) on Tuesday on the situation created after the Taliban ruling in Afghanistan. This committee is the largest government body looking after matters of national security. During the meeting, the Prime Minister asked the officials related to Afghan affairs to take all necessary measures for the safe return of Indians from Afghanistan in the coming days.
According to a senior official, the Prime Minister said that India should not only protect its people, but we should also give shelter to Sikh and Hindu minorities who want to come to India. We should also extend all possible help to our Afghan brothers and sisters who are expecting from India.
The Air Force Globemaster carrying 150 people, including India's Ambassador to Afghanistan, Rudendra Tandon, reached Delhi's Hindon airbase on Tuesday.
