Maruti Suzuki has started booking its popular car Maruti Suzuki S Cross petrol. You can book this car from a Nexa dealership or website. To book a car, the customer has to pay a booking amount of Rs 11,000. Maruti did not upgrade its diesel line up to BS6. Therefore, only the petrol variant of the S-Cross is now available for purchase. The car was only available with a diesel engine before the new emission norms were introduced.
The Maruti S-cross petrol was introduced at the Auto Expo. Since then, its launch has been awaited. Initially, it was to be launched in April, but the company had to postpone the launch of the car due to the COVID-19 outbreak. Now the company has confirmed that the new S-Cross will reveal the curtain on August 5.
The updated S-Cross will get BS6 compliant 1.5-litre petrol engine, which is given in Maruti Brezza. This engine generates 105bhp of power and 138Nm of torque. With this, options for a 5-speed manual and a 4-speed automatic gearbox will be available. Like other Maruti cars, the diesel engine will no longer be available in the S-Cross. This means that, where earlier the S-Cross was just a diesel model, it will now only be a petrol model.
Maruti's new S-Cross petrol will be launched in four variants – Sigma, Delta, Zeta and Alpha. However, the automatic gearbox will be found in the top three variants, that is, there will be no automatic option in the Sigma variant. The BS-4 model had a full range of S-Crosses with Suzuki's mild-hybrid technology. At the same time, the petrol model will now only get a mild-hybrid system in the automatic version.
The diesel-engine S-Cross has priced between Rs 8.81 lakh and Rs 11.44 lakh. Petrol models can be priced slightly lower than this. The updated S-Cross is expected to be priced between Rs 8.5-11.5 lakh. The market will compete with SUVs like Hyundai Creta, Kia Celtos, Renault Duster and Nissan Kicks.
