The officials of India and China were once again at a table on Thursday regarding the Ladakh border dispute. This was the 23rd meeting of the border affairs of both countries regarding the tension going on for one and a half years. However, not much development took place in today's meeting as well.

Both sides agreed to avoid any untoward incident

The Ministry of External Affairs said that in the meeting, both sides agreed to avoid any untoward incident on the border and maintain peace. Both sides agreed to find an early resolution to the remaining issues along the LAC in Eastern Ladakh, in full compliance with bilateral agreements and protocols.

Both sides held frank and in-depth discussions on the situation along the LAC in the western sector of the India-China border areas. The two countries also agreed to hold the next (14th) round of Senior Commanders' Meeting at the earliest. Earlier on October 10 last month, there were commander-level talks between the two sides. The developments since the last meeting were also reviewed.

Both countries increased deployment on the border

Amidst the talks, India-China has increased the deployment of army and weapons in their border areas. Along with this, both countries are rapidly increasing their infrastructure in the border areas. General Rawat said recently that lack of confidence and doubts are coming in the way of resolving the border dispute between the two nuclear-armed countries.

Last month, the 13th round of talks between the military commanders of India and China ended without any result. There has been no consensus on the issue of withdrawal from the border between the two sides. Because of this, thousands of soldiers sent to guard the border last year will no longer return to the base for a long time.
