Punjab Congress Chief Navjot Sidhu has reached Dera Baba Nanak in Gurdaspur on Tuesday. Here Sidhu will offer prayers for the opening of the Kartarpur Corridor. This corridor has been closed since March last year due to Corona. As of now, there is no reaction from Sidhu regarding this tour.
However, there is also a political discussion that Sidhu is going to take a big decision soon. Sidhu's rebellious attitude towards the Congress government remains intact. Despite repeated compromises, Sidhu did not fail to target the government.
At the same time, let us tell you that in the year 2019, the Kartarpur Corridor was opened on this day i.e. on 9th November. Navjot Sidhu had gone to Pakistan at that time. There Sidhu had praised Pak PM Imran Khan fiercely. Sidhu has often been the target of Captain Amarinder Singh for his culinary love. Amarinder has even called him anti-national.
There is a corridor from Dera Baba Nanak in Gurdaspur to reach Kartarpur Sahib Gurdwara in Pakistan. It was closed due to Corona. Some time ago CM of Punjab Charanjit Channi also met the Union Home Minister and the Prime Minister to open it. He had raised the demand to open it.
The history of Gurdwara Kartarpur Sahib, located near the Ravi river in the Narowal district of Pakistan, is about 500 years old. It is believed that it was founded in 1522 by the first Guru of the Sikhs, Guru Nanak Dev Ji. He spent the last years of his life here. The distance from Lahore to Kartarpur Sahib is 120 km and it is about 7 km from the Indian border in the Gurdaspur area.
The governments of India and Pakistan had decided to build a corridor connecting Dera Baba Nanak in Gurdaspur and the holy gurdwara located in Kartarpur, Pakistan. The foundation stone of the corridor was laid in 2018. The foundation stone was laid on 26 November in India and 28 November in Pakistan. After this, it was dedicated to the public on 9 November 2019 on the occasion of the Prakashotsav of Guru Nanak Dev Ji.
