On 26 November 2021, 13 years of the Mumbai attack (26/11 Mumbai Terror Attack) have been completed. In the country's financial capital Mumbai, 10 terrorists of Pakistan-based terrorist organization Lashkar-e-Taiba carried out 12 attacks at four places. This attack shook not only India but the whole world.

166 people from 15 countries were killed in terrorist attacks at the iconic Taj Mahal Palace Hotel, Nariman Point, Metro Cinema and Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus among many other places. The November 2008 Mumbai attack, also known as the 26/11 attacks, was perhaps the first time the whole world had widely condemned the terror attack, which had so far been overlooked.

At the same time, prompting the central government to seriously enhance anti-terrorist operations and re-examine many aspects of it, along with reviewing the already strained relations with Pakistan. The main accused of this attack, Ajmal Kasab, was arrested by the security forces, later the role of Pakistan-based terrorist organization Lashkar-e-Taiba in planning and executing this attack was also confirmed.

Nawaz Sharif had 'accepted' the role of Pakistan

According to information gathered by intelligence agencies, Kasab had said that all the attackers had come from Pakistan and the controllers controlling them were also Pakistanis, who were operating everything from across the border.

Ten years after the attack, former Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif had indicated in a sensational revelation that Islamabad had also played an active role in the 2008 Mumbai attacks.

The evidence available at the present time shows that during the interrogation of three terrorists Ajmal Kasab, David Headley and Zabiuddin Ansari, it became clear that the Mumbai attack was sponsored by the Pakistani government.

Still waiting for justice after 13 years

Despite the fact that the Pakistani rulers have publicly admitted their involvement in the Mumbai attack, and all the necessary evidence is there. Pakistan has not shown honesty in getting justice even after 13 years of the Mumbai attack.

The families of those killed in this attack are still waiting for justice. On 7 November, a Pakistani court had released 6 terrorists, all of them were involved in the Mumbai attack, and their leader was the infamous terrorist Hafiz Saeed, who has been declared a terrorist by the United Nations and the founder of Lashkar-e-Taiba. Which now runs a terrorist organization in the name of Jamaat-ud-Da'wah.

Terrorists' interference in Pakistan's politics

Zaki ur Rehman Lakhvi, the commander of Lashkar-e-Taiba and also the mastermind of the 2008 Mumbai attack, is on bail since 2015. Which was arrested by the Punjab Government of Pakistan for giving financial assistance to terrorist activities.

The United Nations has also declared Lakhvi a terrorist, who was once again arrested in January this year, but experts say that the interference of these people in the politics of Pakistan becomes an obstacle in the way of justice.
