On Friday, three districts of Rayalaseema and one southern coastal district received heavy rainfall up to 20 cm, causing severe devastation. 12 people are still missing in the Cuddapah district. Air force, NDRF and fire services personnel have rescued many people trapped in the floods.
Due to the overflow of Cheyyur river, water from Annamayya Irrigation Project spread to many parts of the Rajampet assembly constituency and the Cuddapah district. A bus from Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport got stuck in Ramapuram. Many people were saved. But despite this 12 people died. Seven bodies were found near Gundaluru, three near Rayavaram, while two bodies were found near Mandapalli.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke to Chief Minister YS Jaganmohan Reddy over the phone and inquired about the situation and promised all assistance to the state. The Chief Minister's Office said in a release that the Chief Minister will conduct an aerial survey of the flood-affected areas on Saturday.
Rising rivers and canals have flooded several districts, damaged roads and derailed normal life in some places. Tirupati International Airport at Renigunta was opened for flight operations on Friday, but two ghat roads leading to Tirumala hills remained closed. The terraced road from Alipiri to Tirumala has suffered major damage due to landslides and floods and has been closed.
Let us tell you that the low-pressure area formed over the Bay of Bengal crossed the coast between Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh in the early hours of Friday. India Meteorological Department (IMD) gave this information. According to IMD, the low-pressure area crossed the coast between Chennai and Puducherry. It crossed the adjoining coasts of North Tamil Nadu and South Andhra Pradesh between Puducherry and Chennai between 3 and 4 am on 19 November 2021. There is a possibility of more rain in these areas now.
