CBI Court Convicts Gurmeet Ram Rahim in Ranjit Singh Murder Case

CBI court’s took decision in Ranjit Singh murder case, 5 convicted including Gurmeet, will be sentenced on October 12.

The CBI court has given a strong verdict in the ongoing Ranjit murder case on Dera chief Ram Rahim. Five accused, including Ram Rahim, lodged in Sunaria jail, have been convicted. On October 12, the special CBI court will announce the punishment for the convicts.

Baba Ram Rahim is accused of the murder of Dera manager Ranjit Singh. In this case, including Baba Ram Rahim, Krishna Lal, Jasveer Sabdil and Avtar are also accused. Gurmeet Ram Rahim is already sentenced to 20 years in Rohtak's Sunaria jail for the rape of two sadhvis. He is also sentenced to life imprisonment in the journalist Ramchandra Chhatrapati murder case.

Court Proceedings in the Case

During the hearing in the case on August 18, the defense had submitted the documents of the final argument in the CBI court. The CBI court had asked both the parties whether they want to make any other argument or not. But this was denied by both parties.

On the other hand, the Punjab Police denied giving a clean chit to Dera Sacha Sauda, chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh in the 2015 sacrilege of the Guru Granth Sahib. The statement came amid some reports referring to Iqbal Preet Singh Sahota. He is holding the additional charge of the police chief of Punjab. Reports have alleged that he had given a clean chit to Ram Rahim while leading the Special Investigation Team (SIT) to probe the 2015 sacrilege cases.

Conclusion of the Case

Sahota has been given the additional charge of the Punjab Police Director-General by the Charanjit Singh Channi-led state government. On October 12, 2015, some torn pages of the Guru Granth Sahib were found in the Bargari village of Faridkot district. Afterward, a case was registered with the Bajakhana police station. A Special Investigation Team, headed by the Director of the State Bureau of Investigation, Sahota, was formed to probe the sabotage of the Guru Granth Sahib in 2015 in Bargari village.
