UP: 19 Cr Cash and 23 Kgs Gold Recovered from Piyush Jain's Kannauj Hideout

The recovered gold has been handed over to the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence. Due to this, the difficulties of the businessman Piyush Jain is likely to increase.

The raids at the ancestral residence of perfume dealer Piyush Jain in Kannauj, which lasted five days, have come to an end. Finally, on Tuesday, the SBI crew arrived at the SBI branch with roughly Rs 19 crore in cash and about 23 kg of gold in four boxes, despite rigorous security. Whereas the recovered gold has been handed over to the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence. According to the Directorate General of GST Intelligence officials, this is the biggest cash recovery ever. The Directorate General of Revenue Intelligence team suspected their ties to the International Gold Smuggling Gang based on gold bricks and biscuits seized in the premises. Due to this, the difficulties of the businessman Piyush Jain is likely to increase.

DGGI Officials said-

Directorate General of GST Intelligence Additional Director Zakir Hussain said that in the invasion of businessman Piyush Jain's house in Kannauj, we have finished our investigation. We have seized 23 Kgs of gold and handed it over to the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence. At the same time, an inquiry into this subject has begun. As per Hussain, roughly Rs 19 crore in cash was also seized.

According to higher bureaucrats, this is the huge cash recovery ever. Additional director Zakir Hussain made it clear that the gold recovered in Kanpur is different. And in Kannauj they have recovered around Rs 19 crore in cash. It's worth mentioning that the perfume trader's residence in Kanpur was raided by Income Tax and the Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs in recent days, yielding roughly Rs 257 crore in cash, 25-kilogramme gold, and 250 kg silver. Piyush Jain has been sent to 14-day judicial custody on 27th December 2021 on the order of the court.

BJP leaders have previously claimed that the Samajwadi Party had ties to perfume merchant Piyush Jain. Akhilesh Yadav's stomach started twitching when the Income Tax Department raided a few days ago, Union Home Minister Amit Shah stated in Hardoi's meeting on Tuesday, claiming that the raid was done owing to political acrimony and that he got the response today.
