The Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) has come into effect in India. The notification of this law was issued on Monday. With this, the path to citizenship for non-Muslims coming from Afghanistan, Pakistan, and Bangladesh to India has been cleared.
Hindu organizations around the world are celebrating the implementation of this law. Hindu organizations in America have also expressed joy over the implementation of the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA).
Executive Director of the Hindu American Foundation, Suhag Shukla, said that there has been a long wait for the CAA in India, and its implementation was necessary. Now, this wait is over. This law will provide security to refugees.
Earlier on Monday, the notification of the CAA law was issued. Along with this, the rules of the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) have come into effect in India before the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
Hindu American groups have said that there has been a long wait for the CAA, and it reflects the Lautenberg Amendment made for refugees in America.
The Hindu American Foundation (HAF) has issued a statement saying that misinformation is sometimes spread about the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA).
The CAA does not change the rights of any Indian citizen nor does it establish scrutiny for ordinary citizens.
Pusphita Prasad of the Coalition of Hindus of North America said that this is a significant victory for the human rights of persecuted religious minorities in Pakistan, Bangladesh, and Afghanistan. She stated that the CAA will not have any impact on people living in India.
