Man Accused of Slapping Sharad Pawar in Delhi Arrested After 8 Years

Arvinder Singh, who slapped Nationalist Congress Party supremo Sharad Pawar in Delhi, has been arrested by the Delhi Police after 8 years.

Delhi Police has arrested a criminal declared a fugitive by the Mandir Marg Police Station in New Delhi. The accused slapped Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader Sharad Pawar in the year 2011. Apart from this, he has also been involved in a case of assault with an accused policeman. The accused has been identified as Arvinder Singh alias Harvinder Singh, resident of Swaroop Nagar, Delhi. Two cases are registered against him at Connaught Place Police Station and Parliament Street Police Station. In both cases he was declared a fugitive.

DCP Ish Singhal said that the accused Arvinder Singh attacked the then Agriculture Minister Sharad Pawar on 24 November 2011 in the convention hall of NDMC at Connaught Place Arvinder Singh was arrested in this case.

In this case also he disappeared during the trial of the case, he was declared a fugitive by the Patiala House Court. The DCP said that under the direction of ACP Akhileshwar Swaroop Yadav, the team formed under the leadership of Vikramjit Singh, the SHO of the Mandir Marg police station, to catch the miscreants declared fugitives. Raided the original address of the accused Arvinder Singh several times, but he was not found. On 11 November, the team received information about Arvinder Singh's new address. Based on the information, the team nabbed him. He was arrested after verification.
