Fuel Shortage in Pakistan: As Pakistan grapples with one of its most severe economic crises in history, exacerbated by rampant inflation and a fuel shortage, the situation doesn't seem to be getting any better.

While skyrocketing prices have left the public struggling to make ends meet, the fuel crisis is hitting Pakistan's aviation sector hard, leading Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) to cancel a significant number of flights.

Fuel Shortage in Pakistan: Why the Flight Cancellations?

Due to a fuel shortage, Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has had to cancel 48 flights. Issues related to outstanding payments and operational problems have compounded the fuel supply constraints, further affecting the airline's flight operations.

Of the 24 flights cancelled yesterday, 11 were international, and 13 were domestic routes.

Additionally, PIA has also cancelled 24 flights scheduled for Wednesday, which includes 16 international and 8 domestic routes.

Delays are also expected in many of the remaining flights.

With financial constraints leading to outstanding payments, PIA was already struggling to maintain its operations.

Now, the fuel crisis has pushed the airline to cancel a substantial number of flights, causing further disruptions. Nearly 12 of PIA's flights are currently experiencing delays.

The economic turmoil, coupled with the fuel crisis, is posing significant challenges to Pakistan, and the aviation sector's woes are a stark reminder of the country's ongoing economic struggles.
